Bunk bed construction complete!

Tom volunteered to make two sets of bunk beds for mom and dad's new river house not realizing that our schedule is so crazy that he'd hardly ever have time to work on them. After months of not getting to spend time on the beds and a few weekends of hard work in the stifling hot garage, the beds are finished and they are awesome! A few weekends ago, we loaded up the beds and got them out of our garage for good. Deep sigh of relief on my part. If we could just find time to clean up the saw, the scraps, and the sawdust, I could actually park in the garage again.

Here is one of Tom's last days of work on the beds.

And here are two sets of bunk beds in the back of our truck for delivery. Ikea couldn't plan or pack it any better. Speaking of Ikea, when mom and dad were shopping for bunk beds, they went to Ikea and shook the bunk beds and decided they weren't solid enough for the grandkids (ahem, Bo and Sam). Tom's beds are SOLID.

The beds are going to be painted by the same guys who painted the rest of mom and dad's house, but this particular set of bunk beds had to be built with almost no margin into this nook in the bunk room. Before painting, Tom wanted to double check the fit. It was perfect!

Owen approves.
