Pumpkin Carving

While Paula and the girls were still in town, we got together with cousins and friends for some pumpkin carving at the river. Thanks to lots of napping, only Owen and Kate were awake for the actual pumpkin cleaning.

Owen isn't a big fan of messy things so he stuck his spoon in the pumpkin once before deciding he was finished. Tom did most of the pumpkin dirty work. Owen said, "It was messy for me."

Tom was a big hit chasing Owen and Kate with the pumpkin guts. They kept running away screaming only to return yelling, "Again!" Tom obliged.

The other kids showed up in time for the actual carving. The kids were corralled in the Kubota trailer / hay ride to keep them from running off into the water.

Nana and Susan entertained the kids with a story about scarecrows and the construction of a real scarecrow using one of Opa's favorite shirts. When we looked through pictures later, Opa said he kept seeing the scarecrow and thinking he was in all of the pictures. Nana had to promise to return the shirt later.

We tried to get a good picture of all of the kids on the hayride, but it didn't work. Blake refused to get in the trailer at all and we had the kids sitting too low so the railing covered the faces of all of the babies. Oh well.

Tom playing a supportive role...

We ended the night with s'mores. Yum!
